Brad Holmes web developer, designer and digital strategist.

Dad, husband and dog owner. If you’re here, you either found something I built on Google or you’re just being nosey. Either way, this is me — the work, the thinking, and the bits in between.

About Brad Holmes

Brad Holmes Web Developer, Web Designer, Digital Strategist

Hi, I’m Brad Holmes. A full-stack web developer, digital designer and strategist based in Kettering UK. I build performant, user-first websites and systems for people who give a damn about quality.

Over the past 20+ years – Yeah, I’m that old. I was building for the web when dial-up was still a novelty. Since then I’ve worked across agencies, product teams and direct client relationships to deliver everything from brand sites to complex web apps. I’ve often led the full process from design through to deployment, with a focus on UX that makes sense, architecture that scales and content strategies that actually convert.

What I Do Best

  • Custom WordPress development using the Roots stack (Sage, Bedrock, Composer) for clean, maintainable builds that scale
  • Full-stack web applications with Laravel and Supabase, including real-time features, secure APIs and edge-first thinking
  • Front-end engineering using Tailwind CSS, Alpine, Vue and clean design systems that balance performance and polish
  • UX and interface design that respects the user and reflects the brand, from prototypes to production
  • Technical SEO and CRO baked into the build, not tacked on later. Schema, speed, structure and conversion all matter

I’m just as comfortable designing a marketing site as I am building real-time dashboards, custom plugins or setup flows that actually make sense. I don’t just write code. I think about how the whole thing fits together, and I care enough to notice if a button’s 2px off.

Current Focus

Right now I’m building systems that help creators, marketers and businesses spend less time wrestling with tech and more time doing what they’re great at. That includes:

  • Internal tooling and setup workflows for Adobe plugin ecosystems
  • Modular site architecture and component libraries for high-growth teams
  • Funnel-first design systems that align marketing, design and code
  • An AI assistant designed to support my entire family

A Few Principles I Work By

  1. Is it helpful?
That’s the question I ask the most. Whether it’s a line of copy, a layout, a feature or a piece of content— if it’s not genuinely helping someone, it probably doesn’t need to be there.
  2. Speed is a feature.
Not just in terms of load time — but in how fast a project can move when the right foundations are in place. Good systems should make momentum easier, not harder.
  3. No one should have to fight the CMS.
If updating the site feels like a chore, something’s gone wrong. Editors should feel confident, not cautious. Work should be enjoyable — even when it’s hard. The tools we use should lift people up, not wear them down.
  4. Tools are just tools.
They’re not the answer. They help you get there, sure — but what matters is where you’re going and why.
  5. Legacy matters.
I want to build things that last — not just in code, but in meaning. My goal is to create work I’d be proud for my kids to look back on and say, “My dad made that.”

Beyond the Code

Outside of work, I’m usually with my kids, walking the world’s daftest (and most loveable) Mastiff, or pretending the Saints might finally have a good season.

I love to travel — especially to the US — and try to make regular trips over whenever I can. New places, familiar routes, a change of rhythm — it all feeds the same part of me that loves building things.

Music’s been a big part of my life too. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work alongside some brilliant record labels and festivals — from Creamfields to Tidy Trax. I’m genuinely grateful for those experiences, and the people I met along the way. They shaped a lot of how I see the world, and who I’ve grown into.

Still wondering?

Are you available for work?

Yes — I’ve got a full-time role as Lead Developer and Digital Strategist at Mimeo Inc, working across the global brands they own. But I love supporting good people with side projects and ideas when I can.

What kind of projects do you take on?

Usually short-term builds, dev-heavy consulting, or anything where I can help untangle a messy system. If it’s got a clear purpose and the team cares, I’m probably interested.

Do you design, develop, or more?

More. I think in systems — design, UX, dev, and digital strategy. I can take on the full lot or just focus where you need help most.

Do you work with agencies or internal teams?

Both. I’m happy leading a project, being a cog in the wheel, or just consulting on specific pieces. As long as there’s mutual respect and a clear brief, I’m good.

How can I reach out?

Best way is through my contact page. Let me know what you’re working on — if I can help, I will. If not, I’ll tell you straight.
